Clifford Edward Berry è stato il brillante ingegnere dello Iowa State College che ha collaborato con il prof. Vincent Atanasoff nella realizzazione dell’ABC (Atanasoff Berty Computer), il cui primo prototipo fu presentato nel 1939.
Atanasoff descrisse il contributo di Berry in questi termini:
“Penso che la scelta di Clifford Berry sia stata una delle migliori cose capitate al progetto. Dopo che ebbe lavorato per poco tempo, sapevo che egli aveva le competenze necessarie di meccanica ed elettronica, e anche che aveva capacità di visione e di inventiva.
“I feel that the choice of Clifford E. Berry was one of the best things that could have happened to the project. After he had worked for a short time, I knew that he had the requisite mechanical and electronic skills-and that he had vision and inventive skills as well.“.
